136. A Quick Trick for Presentation Nerves

Feeling nervous right before a presentation? Try gently pinching your nose for a few seconds and taking a moment to reset.

While there’s limited evidence that nose-pinching directly reduces stress, a small physical action can interrupt spiraling thoughts and bring your attention back to the present. Pair it with a few slow breaths, relax your shoulders, and remind yourself: those pre-presentation butterflies usually disappear once you get started.

137. A Berry Good Gut Booster

Once your baby is ready for solid foods, mashed blueberries can be a tasty addition to their diet. Blueberries contain fiber and plant compounds that can help support a diverse gut microbiome.

They’re also naturally packed with nutrients and antioxidants. Just make sure they’re mashed, softened, or prepared appropriately for your baby’s age to reduce choking risk. A tiny handful of berries can pack a surprising nutritional punch.

138. Give Your Brain a Bedtime Inbox

Ever notice that your brain suddenly remembers everything the second your head hits the pillow? With fewer distractions at night, unfinished thoughts can become much louder.

Keep a notebook beside your bed and spend a few minutes writing down whatever is bouncing around your head, tasks, worries, reminders, or random ideas. Calming background sounds or white noise can also give your brain something neutral to focus on while you drift off.

139. Rethink the Aluminum Foil

Cooking acidic foods like tomatoes, lemons, or vinegar-heavy dishes directly on aluminum foil can increase the amount of aluminum that transfers into the food.

For everyday cooking, this generally isn’t considered a major health concern, but you can easily reduce exposure by using glass, ceramic, stainless steel, or parchment paper instead. It’s an especially simple swap when roasting highly acidic or salty foods, and you may find cleanup just as easy.

140. Your Phone Is a Pain in the Neck

The farther you tilt your head forward while staring at your phone, the greater the effective load placed on your neck.

At a steep angle, estimates suggest the forces on your cervical spine can approach 60 pounds. Over time, constantly hunching over a screen can contribute to neck and upper-back discomfort. Try bringing your phone closer to eye level, taking regular screen breaks, and occasionally rolling your shoulders back. Your neck will appreciate it.
